Q. What impact
did the postponement of the City’s curbside fall leaf pick up have on the
performance of the Storm and Sanitary sewer functions?
A. One focus of this study is the impact of the FDD program
on the flows in the sanitary sewer system. As part of this study, the results
will be quantified with statistical confidence from a statistical regression
analysis. It is common to set a threshold of 95% statistical confidence or
greater to have statistically significant results. For districts that meet this
threshold, it means that there is a 95% or greater chance that the flow
reductions are the result of the FDD program, and a 5% or less chance that the
flow reductions are the result of some other effect such as the curbside fall
leaf pickup schedule, variations in rainfall volume or intensity, variations in
wetness conditions, or other variations. Statistical confidence values will be
published with the FDD flow evaluation results.
The impacts on the stormwater system from the FDD program or
other items such as the City’s leaf pick up are not the focus of this study and
would have to be taken up by other City initiatives or other studies.
