Q. Can the city make storm sewers
overflow into sanitary sewers?
A. No. Discharge of stormwater sources into the sanitary
sewer system is prohibited by local ordinance. Flows from the storm sewer
system would quickly overwhelm the sanitary sewer system and lead to sewer
overflows and backups into basements.
