Can you PLEASE at least TRY to contact the MEDIA.... many survey respondents and possibly many FDD homeowners did not want to take the time to fill out the survey....they may want to take the time to come to the Public Meeting.

Upon review of the agenda, not enough time is reserved for comments from the Public.  The current CAC meeting allows only 3 minutes per speaker and  not many of the Public actually attends these meetings.  This public meeting needs to provide ample time for the Public to address the City staff, and CAC team.  This is as critical to the process as is presenting the most current results of the flow data.

Regarding the statement by C. Fleetham above: "We intend to send out this agenda with an email to 500+ survey respondents on Monday."

Why are only 500+ respondents being contacted?  Why not all existing FDD homeowners? Who selects (or "cherry picks")  which of 800 or so responders will get this invite? 

Once again.... a Press Release from the city and a more aggressive "reach out" from the CAC team  to the local media, is in order. 

Regarding the agenda, the public will commenting throughout the meeting, in particular during the 65 min presentation/discussion on the survey.  Thus, there is no specific period on the agenda for public comment - as in the April 23, 2013 Public Meeting.  By definition, the purpose of the entire meeting is to gather public comments.

Regarding Frank Burdick's comment on who will receive invitations to the 2/6 meeting -  ALL 859 respondents will receive an invitation -  500+ will get emails (because they gave them to us) and 300+ are getting post cards.  I have attached them for your review.

Regarding a press release - we will prepare one for the city.

Regarding an invitation to all FDD homeowners via the post, the project team has decided the most cost effective way to reach the entire group is through 1) post/email invitations to the 859 respondents and 2) social media/press/word of mouth etc. to the rest.

Please note: The Slauson auditorium holds about 200 people.  I assume if there is an overflow crowd, we will be scheduling a much bigger facility for the May public meeting.

I think the times allotted for the Welcome, Overview and Project Intro are underestimated. I'm concerned that these agenda items will run longer than expected and leave less time for the heart of the meeting--the Survey Results. Regarding the video Robert is planning to show--is it the same one that is on the SSWWE website? Don't we think that the people who filled out the Survey already know what a FDD is? 

Also, I think it's important that when sharing the Survey results with the public, the 35 pages of comments are presented along with the pie charts, graphs and percentages. Will attendees receive a handout of the Survey? 

I suggest that ample time be built into the Agenda for the public to comment and ask questions. 

I agree with Judy.   Consider this:  What does the CAC consider as the intended Goal (s) of the  PUBLIC MEETING?  THIS is supposed to be a PUBLIC meeting

a. Is it to communicate data to the public

or..

b. Is it to hear from the public

or..

c. to inform the public about the work and workings of the CAC?

I can only answer for myself. I would  be interested to hear what the other volunteers have to say.

For me the PUBLIC MEETING should be allocated as follows:

1. SSWWE brief decription of role and goals      5% of the meeting

2. Presentation of the OHM flow data INCLUDING an IMPROVED laymans interpretation... ie "explain it to me like I am a 4 year old," says Denzel Washington.    15%

3. Going forward game plan of the SSWWE Cac  5%

4. Review of Survey results. Including an INVITATION to the Public to submit survey results of theiir own if they had not done so already.  35%

Regarding inviting all FDD households to the Feb 6 meeting, Judy Hanway's original suggestion was to invite all respondents - and we are doing that.  Frank Burdick then suggested inviting all FDD households. We decided not to do this because of cost of issuing the invitation and the belief that interested FDD households can be reached through media/social media/word of mouth etc.  Finally, the Slauson auditorium only holds 200.  We expect a full house as it is.  BTW - we are a May Public meeting in the work plan and we will get a bigger site if needed.

Regarding the agenda,  we expect to receive public comment about the survey during the 65 minute time slot.  Our presentation will be around 20 minutes, if that.

Regarding the FDD survey comments, they have been included in the report and have been loaded on the SSWWE website. There was never any question or discussion about withholding the comments. We always planned to do so.

A final agenda for the February 6th Public Meeting is attached.  Please note:

1.   A public comment section has been added.

2.   We will distribute numbered cards for questions for topics 4 and 5.  Responses will be provided for topic oriented questions.  Other questions will be placed in the log.

3.   We will bring 50 copies of the full survey results.

4.   We will pass out a feedback form for people to make additional requests for information.

5.   We will have blank FDD surveys for FDD homeowners to complete.

6.   The meetings will be videotaped.
