Invitation--Week of February 24

Thanks everyone for your time this morning, it was great.  If we could get another that would be greater.  This group of people had mornings free-ish, flexible.  Is anyone open to an evening grouping?  This would include Frank B., who is our leading "squeaky wheel".

Joe Conen on 18 Feb, 2014:

I could be available any day except Monday, if you don't mind some reruns.

Kathy Boris on 18 Feb, 2014:

If someone took notes at the previous gathering, would you be willing to share them will all the CAC members?    If no notes were taken, a quick summary of what was discussed would be helpful.

Joe Conen on 18 Feb, 2014:

We talked about alternatives. Most of this was captured, at a general level, in Robert's post regarding the tech briefings.
We talked a little about what a solution needs to do.  For example, if we gave the city recommendations that were too difficult or expensive, they might decide to just continue FDD as is. So any recommendation needs to be reasonable from a city viewpoint.
We talked a little about how the cost for some of the sanitary line expansions or storage might be improved if it coordinated with other work in the right of way, like a road and storm reconstruction project.
We had some general information exchange about the sanitary back up problem, waste plant overflows, etc.
There was also some exchange of viewpoints on the impacts of solutions on different stakeholders, like the individual homeowners, the city, etc.
Several people indicated that a single solution may be inadequate and that we may want to consider different solutions based on differences in the neighborhoods and individual homes.
Probably more, too. Others can add.

Michelle- Sorry to have missed yesterdays meeting. With a little notice I
could be flexible some mornings and /or evenings. I’ll see what the
consensus is and try to make it.

Frank Burdick on 19 Feb, 2014:

I propose we meet for 1 hour on thurs 27Feb14, at Panera Bread on Eisenhower from 1830 to 1930.

Alternate location: Wolverine Tap Room on stadium.

Michelle Lovasz on 19 Feb, 2014:

THURSDAY the 27th of February.  Panera or Wolverine Tap Room.  I am fine with either.  I think one hour might be a little short, so how bout 530 - 730?  If it were the Tap Room, could we get a burger?  I've never been there.  Is it loud?  Dark?  Frank, if you (or others) can't get there til 630 maybe we start at 6, you join 630?

Frank Burdick on 19 Feb, 2014:

I can do 1800, not sooner.
Wolv Tap is loud in the front.... better in the back room.  Food is unknown as they just added food to their menu.  You are allowed to bring your own.

michelle....just pick a spot, date, time, etc,  lock it in ...

Michelle Lovasz on 19 Feb, 2014:

I appreciate that Frank, but it has to work for others.  So far its just you and me weighing in.  Joe said he might be able to.  We'll just wait with this for a bit til others have a chance to respond.

Joe Conen on 19 Feb, 2014:

I can do Thursday. Tap Room sounds like a nice change. Looks like they have a small sandwich menu. Let me know when you decide there are/are not enough players.

Judy Hanway on 20 Feb, 2014:

I can't meet next week but would be interested in future meetings.

Mark Wagner on 20 Feb, 2014:

I will be able to attend Thursday Feb. 27 afternoon or evening.

Michelle Lovasz on 20 Feb, 2014:

Mark, Michelle, Joe, Frank, that's a good start.  Let's fix it then.  Thursday February 27 Tap Room 6 pm.  I hope Colin comes too.  If anyone else is interested, it's not like you have to make reservations.  Just show up.  This one is now fixed.

Vince?  Peter?  Frank Richardson?

Robert, it was awfully helpful having you at the last one, would you join us?    Our thoughts in this large project scope get more focused through the filter of your knowledge and experience.  I appreciate how our thinking outside the box was encouraged through your participation.  Any and all other "administrators" are wanted.  The flow of  ideas, even if they end up stopped in their tracks, is much different in this less structured format.

Judy, I think I'd be available the following week, but even if I personally am not we can still initiate one.  This group is getting regular input on data that informs our processing, so I think it serves us well to keep this gig rolling, if there's interest.

Robert Czachorski on 20 Feb, 2014:

I will be there.  I want to help in any way that I can.

Colin Breed on 20 Feb, 2014:

I should be able to make it Thursday as well, looking forward to it.

Michelle Lovasz on 22 Feb, 2014:

Colin, Mark, Joe - are you wishful to explore in this Brainstorming Meeting the legality of mandatory FDDs, past or future?  If not, we can separate a Legal Brainstorming out to another time.  This seems to be important to Frank (and potentially others who have been quieter about it...)  and Frank B has indicated that he's fine if its not in this particular discussion.

Peter Houk on 22 Feb, 2014:

Hi Michelle--I was planning on coming on Thursday.  (I've been on vacation and I'm catching up on email today, so sorry for the delay replying.)

I am not particularly interested in the legal question.  That one has been hashed and re-hashed inside and outside of our meetings.

If that is going to be the only topic for Thursday then I think I'll pass.  I'll keep my calendar open, though, in case the team decides to give this meeting a more general agenda.

Thanks

Pete

Michelle Lovasz on 22 Feb, 2014:

Pete, keep it open please?  Grateful you were planning on it.  Not all have weighed in.  We've just asked.  As it stands, it is NOT a topic, per my request.  This Thursday IS just a general agenda.  Frank B. proposed legalities for a topic.

It seems, as a specific topic, the "Legalities" issue may have critical mass in this group.  It may need to be put on another Brainstorming event.  It may claim this one.  Until such critical mass, this Thursday remains "Brainstorming" further explorations in a more general agenda, trying to find understanding and just putting things out there where others are there to actually respond.

So far, critical mass is for general agenda, legalities excluded.  Waiting for others to weigh in.  You just did.  Thanks.

Frank Burdick on 24 Feb, 2014:

I plan to come to listen more than talk.  I am encouraged that the focus will be on brainstorming alternatives.

It is not my intention to hijack the meeting by discussing the upcoming legal case.  I will not even bring it up unless I am asked.

In addition, I will make this committment to not attempt to dominate the meeting in any way.  I will be an observer and only contribute if asked or if I can add a short comment that may further the discussion.  Those who attended the Technical Meeting know that I am capable of doing that. Consider me stifled.

For those unfamiliar with the Wolverine Tap, be sure to ask the bartender or staff how to get to the back room.  Also the first one there should arrange some tables for the group.  Michelle, you may want to call ahead and see if they can arrange that for us.

Michelle Lovasz on 24 Feb, 2014:

Then Thursdays Wolverine Tap will be brainstorming, no legal.  That's a good idea Frank, I will try to get "the back room."

Michelle Lovasz on 24 Feb, 2014:

Greg, you coming Thursday?  I'll buy you dinner.

Greg Marker on 24 Feb, 2014:

I'm in.  See you there.
Michelle, Please don't consider it rude if I bought my own dinner.  I will have to leave at 7:45 for Hockey.

Michelle Lovasz on 24 Feb, 2014:

Great.  Just trying to get you there.

Michelle Lovasz on 24 Feb, 2014:

Robert, Greg, Joe C, Pete H, Michelle L, Frank B, Colin B, Mark W.  This looks fantastic.  I will be looking for room for 8, with space to spread out.  If anyone else is planning on or hoping to come, please let me know.  Conversation goes fast and swift and the space to handle us so we can hear one another and get our own voices heard is IMPORTANT.

Greg, Robert, I will be bringing two big desktop pads of blank paper.  I suspect, like last time, that the conversations might start, break off into two, meld back together, etc.

Beverly Smith on 25 Feb, 2014:

Michelle,
I’m planning to come on Thursday. May be a little late, depending on the work day.
