Our next CAC meeting is 10 days away. It would be helpful to have a reminder of what is on the agenda for that meeting so we can begin to focus on those topics and read (or re-read) any pertinent files.
The sequence of topics that were proposed in that discussion were:
Thursday, Feb 13 ... Initiation of alternative evaluation
Thursday, Mar 20 ... Findings on the risk assessment and hydraulic capacity evaluation
Thursday, April 17 ... If FDD goes foward, what needs to change?
Charlie will be sharing a more detailed meeting agenda soon. Thanks for the suggestion on a reminder of these topics. Hope this helps!

Good morning Robert. To that end, we really do need to keep a couple things in motion which seem to have come to a standstill.
One was Ralph's Code report. His answers go to alternative evaluations and to if FDD goes forward what needs to change.
Two was that Greg was going to "cost" that disconnect-to-gravity-City-handles-the-pump Plan (we gotta get a name for that...).

Michelle - these items are still on our radar. Nick indicated that they had just received the responses from Ralph, and I just received Greg's cost estimate yesterday. We are in the process of reviewing this information and will post it for CAC review when it is finalized.

If "gravity" is a sanitary sewage drain, then is not the rest a sump pit with a sump pump that pumps it out of the home.
Is this not a FDD? What do you mean, then?

Is this the gravity system to the storm drain for $42,000 per home? A FDD to gravity Storm Drain?

Yes, Jim. It was essentially an idea for a gravity footing drain disconnection that connects to a newly constructed deep footing drain storm line that is then pumped to the storm system at a collector pump station in the right of way or public easement. It appears to be 3-4 times more expensive than sump pump FDDs.

This idea is appealing because though it appears to be 3-4 times more
expensive than individual in-home sump pump FDDs, we have to acknowledge
some issues that complicate that assessment. 1. The full cost of an
installation of in-home sump pump FDD has been set by the City, at
approximately 10k, back in 2001? 2. The full cost of an in-home sump pump FDD is not necessarily accurate as it does not take into account many
issues that have been brought up (maintenance, repair, monitoring, etc.
While different for each home, some with less some with more, if these
homes with more are accounted for it brings up the baseline expense) 3.
It takes the burden of water management off of the homeowner and puts it
back on the City.

Shall we do this for all homes that have a sump pump, even newer homes? If not, why not? And if there is a power outage...? I'd rather spend money on a good backup system, than this.
I had a burst pipe, and the water flowed for over a day until I returned. When I mentioned this to the city water people, they said that if my water bill is high, they will restore it to its average amount.
This same policy can be done for any water backup system that is used for a FDD. This deflates Councilman Eaton's statement to me at the end of a meeting that water powered backup pumps are not an answer since they will saddle homeowners with large water bills.
This is certainly much, much less than large sewer bills to pay for this other outside system that has no backup.

I am not that far yet. It seems like a very particular solution to a very particular area where it would be justified, as opposed to a system-wide practice.
