For those who couldn't attend, here is a brief summary of the topics discussed at the February 27 meetup at Panera Bread. Many of the items were covered during the March 20 CAC meeting and/or will be discussed at the upcoming April 17 CAC meeting, which will focus on alternatives evaluation.
- · The Developer Offset Mitigation
Program was discussed and compared and contrasted to the City’s FDD program.
- · Initial discussions occurred
around the desired level of service for the sanitary sewer system to avoid
basement flooding. The State regulates
sewer overflows to surface water to a 10-year frequency of overflows. There was consensus among the participants
that basement flooding should be held to a higher standard. One side of the table suggested a 50 year
level of service. The other side of the
table wanted to see the extent of the problems, and get more information about
alternatives and costs before deciding.
- · The gravity FDD idea was
discussed. This is the idea of constructing a deep gravity storm system to pick
up FDDs and then pumping that system back up to the storm system at several
City operated lift stations.
- · The idea of a of a gravity FDD to
an external lift station/pit with a low pressure discharge to the current curb
drain was discussed
- · The internal and external
restoration issues and how to handle them were discussed.
- · The process for interviewing the
survey respondents were discussed.
- · The option of a floor drain being
installed next to the sump was discussed.
