Have the postcards announcing the meeting been mailed yet? I have checked with some neighbors and they have not received a postcard.

The postcards were mailed a week ago Friday.  We only mailed postcards to the non-email survey respondents. We did receive over 500 emails, and those folks should've received their invitation on Friday from Nick.

Please clarify:

Nick has said that a postcard or email notification of the September 17 Public Meeting has been sent to every (my emphasis) household that has been through the FDD Program. Does this include the DOM program? Does this include homes that have changed hands since the original FDD/DOM work was done?

Charlie has said that approximately 800 notifications went out--over 300 postcards to persons that did not have an email address on file with the City and over 500 emails to people who had responded to the survey. The original survey was mailed to approximately 2350 households.

By my calculation, this leaves about 1550 households with FDDs (and with potential problems) that have not been notified about the public meeting. I realize that mailing is costly but I also strongly believe that it is the City's responsibility to let homeowners know about these public meetings.

Thanks,

Judy

Recently, 800 plus notifications went out to the FDD survey respondents only.

In Feb, we decided to notify the respondents only based on the assumption that they would have the most interest in attending the meeting.  We sent out 800+ notifications and between 20 and 30 respondents attended.

To be consistent, we employed the same notification process for the upcoming 9/17 meeting.  In addition, the project team has issued a press release, posted the meeting notice on the city calendar, will be tweeting it to the Twitter users, and Nick will be talking about the meeting tomorrow morning on the Lucy Ann Lance Radio Show (1290 AM).

I would encourage all CAC members to send out out notices of the 9/17 FDD Public Meeting to your personal email lists. The meeting is at Slauson Middle School starting at 6:30 pm.
