sewer extension project

The Ann Arbor News reported today on funding for sanitary sewer line extensions.  I would like to hear whether and how this impacts any of our modeling. I am also interested in the story behind these extensions - why they are being done, as well as whether would aggravate or mitigate any flow constrained areas.

"The council is being asked to approve a $355,900 construction contract with the E.T. MacKenzie Co. for a sanitary sewer extension project.

Counting design and construction engineering, materials testing and establishment of a contingency fund, the total project budget comes to $471,450.

The project includes the extension of the public sanitary sewer system at three separate locations on Liberty Street, Harvard Place and Arlington Boulevard.

The project is expected to begin in late September with the Arlington Boulevard and Harvard Place locations being completed by mid-November. Work on Liberty Street location will commence next spring and be complete by late May or early June."

These 3 locations are to extend the sanitary sewer system to three parcels that are either not currently served, or are not correctly served.  For example, one is presently served by a shared lead with a neighboring parcel which is failing.  Another is a residential lot that is being split to build a new house.  They are all for single family residential structures, so the additional flow that they would add to the system is negligible - in one case it would not add any additional flow at all.
